Can we salvage this?

So I really didn't intend to desert my 31 day challenge....but....I guess it kind of happened anyway.  However, instead of admitting defeat, haha, I going to pick back up and try and salvage the last eight days of October.  It may still not technically be a victory...but at least I'll have finished what I started. ;-)

And since we are on the topic of salvaging things...

One of the biggest challenges we've faced during renovating has been figuring out what to keep and what to get rid of.  Our "salvage" pile is made up of both things we love AND things we have to choose to love (or at least live with) because we can't afford to replace them right now.

When we came to the bathroom renovation on the main floor we were faced with a lot of "choose to love what you have".  We were in between babies and all spare change went directly to medical care...all so worth it...but ugh.  Because we basically had no money to put into this, I'm not even sure it can be considered a renovation...we lovingly refer to it as a band-aid.  But...it was the super-sticky kind because it hasn't peeled off yet! (yeah...corny...I know) :-)  I'm planning the big before/after post soon, but here's a little sneak peak...

before:
why, oh why, did I never take before pictures before demo began???

after:

Now and then it's just plain necessary to start fresh, but sometimes making do with what you have by adding simple improvements does the trick and can be beautiful too.  Stay tuned!
